Food....

One of my biggest struggles since I hit adult life (adult meaning post college) has been nutrition.

I don't eat fried chicken fingers and french fries everyday BUT I could eat hamburgers, fried chicken fingers, pizza, beer and chocolate cake every day - well rotate them but you get the idea.

I grew up in a southern house.  My mom cooked for God's Army plus a football team almost every night of the week and usually it either had bacon grease, butter, or some type of fried coating.

It's amazing that family doesn't weigh 900 lbs.

I love a good southern cooked meal from my mom.... if she's making chicken fried steak or pork chops you can bet your happy little arse I'm there at the compound waiting for her to FEED ME... but over the last year and a half I have tried to really monitor what I eat.

Not restrict - b/c then I'd go crazy - but just make better choices... grilled chicken instead of fried; vegetables and fruit instead of french fries and mashed potatoes.

One of the things Lea (my tri coach) has told me is to be sure I"m eating enough.   I'm eating breakfast, lunch, snack, usually something before I work out and then dinner. I don't know when I'm going to be able to fit in any more food!  But none the less I will try..... if Lea say do it... I will do it!

I missed my bike yesterday and feel like crap about it.  It's only the first week and I've missed a workout.  i did get the swim in but by the time I got home from work it was dark and Bill and I had dinner plans at The Keg.... after a belly of filet mignon and the fact I woke up at 4am I didn't really feel like hooking up my trainer and going to town.

So tonight is a 5 mile run..... YIKES! BUT I know I can do it.... Tomorrow I plan on making up my missed bike and also another swim.

In other news...

Go visit Christy over at Christy siiiigh.... and tell her Congrats... she's a fellow triathlete and also pretty bad ass chick :)
