Weekend Wrap up

Thank you again for all your sweet comments on my post regarding my BFF - as usual I'm thankful that I have a wonderful community of bloggy friends that allow me to express my inner most feelings and thoughts on not only the fun happy stuff, but the hard stuff too.

Our weekend was jammed packed with traveling.  We left on Friday and drove to Houston - met up with Kristin and Nick and then headed to Galveston for Texas Mardi Gras.  Long story short - it's amazing what drunk college girls will do for some cheap plastic beads. {insert your imagination here}.

On another note...

Saturday we had a wedding.  It was a beautiful wedding between on of our college friends and his perfect bride!  She looked gorgeous and the wedding was so fun!  Congrats Stu and Kelly!

Saturday night we plopped down on Kristin and Nick's couch and set in for some good ole TV time.  I got 1/2 way through Food, Inc and then passed out.  I want to pick it back up on Netflix and finish it b/c I was very interested but eyes were just SO tired!

I woke up before everyone else on Sunday so I went for a run.  I was scheduled for a seven miler so I mapped out the distance from Kristin's house to Memorial Park, one loop around the park and back and it equaled right over 7 miles.  SCORE.... I strapped on my Garmin, my shoes, and a head band and headed out.

I didn't eat breakfast and hadn't drank much water - the first three miles were fine.  I got 1/2 way around the park and found a water fountain.  SCORE....

Then the humidity set in - and the heat - it was like 86 degrees which is normally fine but considering I haven't ran in heat AND humidity in quite sometime it wasn't the easiest run of my life.  Then my Garmin died.  Then I got stuck waiting for a train.

It was a terrible, terrible run but it got completed and I logged the miles.

I was supposed to have this Friday as a rest day - but I ended up taking today.  I stayed up watching the Oscars (which Anne Hathaway mildly annoyed me - shoot me I know, but it was just a little.....I like almost all of her but I had just a twinge of annoy-ment during a few parts) so I scratched Master's Swim in an effort to get some sleep.

Other Oscar News:

My 10 Favorite Dresses: (in no particular order)

Mila Kunis - looking lovely in lavender

Celine Dion - LOVE this dress

Sandra Bullock - always Classy Sandy

Natalie Portman - sporting the baby bump and looking amazing

Reese Witherspoon - resembles a little Julia Roberts circa 2001 when she one her Oscar for playing Erin Brockovich

Jennifer Hudson - weight watchers did her gooooood

Anne Hathaway (the dress she walked the carpet in) - stunning and timeless

Hailee Steinfeld - looking well above her 15 years
Scarlett Johansson - not crazy about her smile in this one - but that dress was hot!

Melissa Leo - has made every other persons worst dress list - but I loved the high collar and plunging neck line!

10 that should have stayed on the rack...

Gwyenth Paltrow - looks like shes wearing tin foil....and although she has the body to rock this hip hugging aluminum foil dress - it should have stayed on her designer's rack.
Marisa Tomei - it's hugging in all the WRONG places

Anne Hathaways (blue rubber dress worn during show)

Penelope Cruz - although she looks HOT only a few weeks post baby - her dress choice wasn't my fav

Cate Blanchett - remove the boxy sleeves and this is a win for me!

Nicole Kidman - I love the colored shoe with the white dress - but the dress is a FAIL

Halle Berry - Love her and she always looks fabulous but this resembles a three year olds attempt to put tulle on a dress.

Helena Bonham Carter - Her face is a perfect accessory to this dress choice - sour face = sour dress

Lynne Harless (Justin Timberlake's Mom) - more support needed - enough said.

Home Sweet Home

Day 16: Your dream home

Warning: this is a picture HEAVY post.....

I could go on and on and on and on about my dream home.  The little things that I would want if money wasn't an object.  Thank you google images for the below pictures :)

# 1  - A wrap around porch.  I've always wanted a BIG wrap around porch with a porch swing, rocking chairs and other outdoor furniture with cushions you can change out during the different seasons.  I think an inviting porch sets the tone for your guests.  Seriously with a porch like this who wouldn't want to come into your house?  I think my want/need for a wrap around porch can be attributed to my southern upbringing.  Every southern belle needs a big porch right?????

# 2.  - Pristine landscaping - I would totally have to have a yard boy for this one.  I hate working in the yard... my neighbors still  mow for me currently.  BUT my dream home would have a perfectly landscaped yard...complete with in season hydrangeas and lush green grass that the future kids could play in.

# 3- A chef's kitchen.....Double ovens, range, griddle and 4-6 burners are a MUST! Sub zero fridge and freezer, built in microwave, stainless steel EVERYTHING...double dishwasher, wine fridge, I can keep going if you want.  I spend 95% of my time in the kitchen.  I love being in the kitchen, cooking, entertaining, etc.  Let's be honest, when you have a party doesn't everyone tend to gather in the kitchen?  I love to cook so a chef's kitchen is a serious dream of mine.  Like a big one....

# 4 - A slate pool.  Summers are BRUTAL in Texas.... so a pool is a definite want/need.  We would have to put up a fence around it b/c of Shakes.... he LOVES to swim and if he had a seizure and fell in the water it would be terrible.  {Yes our dog's name is Shakes and, yes, he is epileptic... I'll tell that story another day}
The pool will have a hot tub as well.........

# 5  - The Koehler Shower - a crap ton of shower heads ( I'd take one on the roof for the rain like effect too) seriously - could you ever get any cleaner?????? Look at this puppy!!!

# 6 - A whirlpool tub - Sunday's are for bath time.  I take a shower every day of the week (often twice) but Sundays are bath day; especially after a long run or bike...nothing is better than soaking in a bubble bathed tub.  (I like to shower first though....not a big fan of sitting in my own filth)  Rose petals are optional.....

# 7 - A glorious master suite.  King bed, wood floors, fire place, crown molding... you get the idea.  A retreat of some sort.  Heaven in a bedroom form.

# 8 - Media room - Bill already has an old timey popcorn machine.... I think a media room would be the perfect place for it.  Completely outfitted with a projection screen, recliners, and a beer fridge.

Other things not identified in pictures:

4 bedrooms (Master, 2 kids rooms, guest room)
A garden...that I can pick and subsequently cook from

That's it... not too much huh???

Today I have a 1/2 day at work - booya!  Bill and I are going to go for a run and then go shopping for Thanksgiving..... Excited to spend the afternoon together :)

Have a lovely weekend..... say a prayer for me as a run my 9 miler tomorrow!

Mandy over at Caratunk Girl (check her out she is super cool and has a precious little pooch, Bailey!) chose me to receive the Versatile Blogger award.  THANKS MANDY YOU ROCK!!!

In an effort to keep up with the 30 day challenge - you get two posts mixed into one.... you are welcome!

Here are the rules to the award:

1. You must thank the person who gave you the award and link back to their blog. DONE :)

3. Finally, you must pass this award along to other bloggers.  (Boo -ya - check for your tag)

30 Day Challenge Day 6 - Favorite Movies with 7 Random things about me related to such films (in no particular order)

Movie and Random Fact #1:
I secretly wanted to be Julie Andrews and to have 6 brothers and sisters... Leisel was my favorite and I still love that name.

Movie and Random Fact #2

One summer I watched this movie every day for a month.... no lie

Movie and Random Fact #3

I have a secret crush on Michael Douglas and I'm super sad he is having such a hard battle with cancer.
You should watch this movie....it's wonderful!

Movie and Random Fact  #4

A classic....
Amber and I dressed as Harry Dunne and Lloyd Christmas for a skit in our senior review show in 1999.  I'm Harry - she's Lloyd.  We even made our own shaggin' wagon out of old carpet scraps and a shopping cart from the local Sack-n-save.  True story: we got pulled over in our shopping cart.  I'll tell all about that one day.

Movie and Random Fact #5
My all time favorite Christmas movie (sorry lovers of A Christmas Story)
I still believe that every time a bell rings an angel gets their wings (*sorry for the confusion, I should note, that "every time a bell rings....is from It's a Wonderful Life... but I believe it and it's my random fact - no direct tie to Miracle which is my fav. christmas movie - besides, well, Christmas.  Thanks Christy for the clear up)

Random Fact #6: (I'm out of movies - I'm sure there are more but I'm crunched for time): I dislocated my shoulder rolling down a hill in sixth grade which inevitably led to me tearing my rotator cuff last November and having subsequent surgery last December.

Random Fact #7: I'm driving around with expired license plates - since September...oops...

I ran yesterday 2ish miles...OUTSIDE!!! See you all told me to go outside so I DID - I listen!!

It was a good run - I ran in Plano on a few bike trails before Bill's baseball game.  (DOUBLE SCORE - I ran and was able to watch him play).  I.heart.watching him play ball.  It is so great to see him get so much joy from that sport.  Plus he's really good so it makes my heart smile when he is the best one on the team.

I was scheduled to do a 30 minute bike today so I had plans to go on a Wednesday night ride with the PBA (Plan Bike Association) but after an incredibly long and busy day at work I nixed it.  I'm thinking I'll throw my bike on the trainer tonight and get a few spins in.  Tomorrow is a 3 mile run and a swim.  I may have to cut the swim out due to work commitments... the run is more important to me at this point anyway since my main focus in the 1/2 marathon in December.

The swim on the Tri in October is only 250m and it's a pool swim...so I literally could not swim between now and then and be fine.

My allergies are killing me today - my eyes are all itchy and my nose is all runny - I def. need a good nights sleep tonight.  My plan is to run in the morning and get it out of the way since I have work stuff tomorrow evening.  I enjoy running in the mornings - It gets my day off right.

Gotta go this evening.... I have to switch my cable provider..... Time Warner #1 SUCKS and #2 has not reached a contract agreement with WFAA our local ABC station - so as of Sunday if there is no agreement reached I loose ABC....and I can't let that happen....plus I've been meaning to switch anyway.

Back tomorrow...... :) HUGS :)

Fall TV = total bliss

I imagine one day I'm going to have to give up my addiction to TV and embrace an adult life.  But until that day - my addiction to TV remains.  I heard today that Lindsay Lohan failed another two drug tests -- her addiction to cocaine, marijuana and whatever else she snorts, shoots or smokes rivals my addiction to reality tv.   But if you told me to quit TV or go to jail - I would pull my TV out of the wall STAT!

Anyways - This time of year is my favorite!  Fall is on it's way, football has started, my wardrobe is getting better (b/c I LOVE Fall wardrobe) and Series/Season Premier time is HERE!

Here's a snapshot of my DVR --

It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia is HILARIOUS! I'm pissed b/c my TIVO missed Thursday nights show so I'm hoping on Demand picks it up - otherwise I'm all set for this Thursday.  If you like off color humor (and slightly offensive) check it out Thursday nights on FX!

A show that I fell into with Bill started watching it - a group of nerds, a hot girl, and some genius script writing makes for a great 30 minute comedy.  It just moved to Thursday nights which kind of screws up my Thursday night programming (at least until Rachel Zoe is over)....

I think we are in like season 900 but still one of the best shows on TV.  Inspiring, dramatic, and always 2 hours!  BL will melt your heart and inspire you to melt the pounds.  Funny story - Bill and I used to watch this every week with a blizzard from Dairy Queen - no lie...we watched a weight loss show while eating ice creaam.

Bros. and Sisters is a heart wrenching, family drama that I pretty much cry at every week.  I have a soft spot for Sally Field -- and all her overbearing motherly qualities on the show.

The serial killer we all LOVE.... kind of creepy that his sister on the show is his wife in real life (I guess it would be more creepy if it was switched) but anyhow - suspense 1 hour commerical free showtime drama.... he kills the bad people...how can you not love him?

Grey's - need I say more? McDreamy, McSteamy, McArmy :) == Thursday night bliss

I just want a friend like Barney.......I was at Fry's the other day and saw the "Bro Code" in print.... seriously it's in print.  NPH makes this show!

Best new show on TV a few years ago -  Watch it - you will laugh until you cry

This is going to be the deciding season for me on if I continue to watch PP.  If Addison keeps hooking up with everyone I'm out.....

I really, really, really want to go on this show... .really - almost as much as Big Brother...

**Thank you google images for your help in this post**

What's your DVR set to record?  Or am I the only obsessive tv watcher around?
